Farmer’s market sets up stall in cyberspace

Marcus Carter, a pâté maker who founded the Virtual Farmers Market site, said: “It’s the story of the food that everyone comes to the market for, and I thought surely we can reproduce that experience online.”

The site, which launches on New Year’s Day, employs the 3D technology used for developing video games to bring the virtual market to life. At first it will have 45 stalls selling condiments, meat, cheese, fish, soups, sweets and oils but it expects to showcase more than 100 in the future.

How Can Idea Connection Help Clorox?15.0
Entry posted November 30, 2009 by Jim.Beaumont@IdeaConnectionInspriational Ideators

Clorox is working on a new product.  Getting to market is slowed due to a challenge.  The challenge solution may or may not be available internally, but the solution process might be cheaper and faster to seek via an external expert network.  Calculate the cost of solving the challenge internally, including the total timeline.  Now take a good sized portion of that cost and call it an external award amount that would be enough to attract the interest of the best members of an expert network, assign a deadline, describe a successful solution in as much detail as possible, and determine the level of confidentiality required to meet internal demand.

Idea Connection will charge a small retainer fee for a single challenge, or waive the retainer fee for 10 or more challenges.  The award amount determined by Clorox, will be placed in an escrow account.  We'll query the network for available talent in the area of the challenge, assign one of our world class facilitators to manage the challenge to deadline, and pare down to a diverse and creative team of the best and brightest from around the world, signed to general Idea Connection non-disclosure agreements, as well as non-disclosure agreements specific to the challenge for both companies.  A solution will be presented on deadline and accepted as successful, or the escrow account is closed and returned to Clorox.  If the solution is successful, the intellectual property is transferred and signed off by all members of the team.

The attraction to this process is exceptionally high return on investment, as well as the potential for innovation beyond existing expectations and tapping into a brain bank of dynamic global diversity, in less time than may have been required from an internal process.  This is not crowdsourcing, as it controls the flow of information and protects new product confidentiality - at Idea Connection, privacy is paramount, unless the goal is to generate as many unfettered ideas as possible, from the widest possible net - a service that is also available, as needed.
