Amen to that choice!
Damn it, I should have made green eggs and ham for breakfast this morning! ... Maybe next St. Paddy's Day when I'm trying to think of festive ways to celebrate with children without introducing them to green beer just yet.

Thanks, Sam I Am! Your name always makes me smile.
I just checked out your bio and see that you're also an attorney. Yet wisely not practicing. Had to know anyone with a Seuss-inspired moniker was genius.

Great idea to take up blogging to help ease the pain of deployment! And you've found another military wife on here already. Awesome. Blogging community can provide really great companionship. I look forward to reading more from you.

Great idea to seek so much advice from others and float those questions on Twitter. Love the variety of responses.
What advice did you find most useful?

Cute blog! And adorable girls, even if they are named after dogs. ;)
On a related note, my husband and I discussed baby names long before we were actually expecting one. For a girl, we were torn between Mia and Isabella. We ended up with a dog before a baby girl, so the dog got the name Mia and our subsequently conceived daughter got the name Isabella. Fast forward nearly 8 years and literally four out of 10 of the girls in our daughter's Girl Scout troop are named Isabella. Kinda wish we could make her switch names with the dog!

Wow, Brenda, that was such a great post! It's a true gift to experience motherhood and actually enjoy it while experiencing it. I'm not much of a baby person myself (oddly - despite having had two of them!), so I spent much of my kids' early developmental time in exactly the state you described having felt long ago. That desire to move to the next milestone. Now they're 5 and 7 and I actually enjoy the hell outta them ... most of the time. ;)
That is awesome that you get to enjoy both the grown-up kid time that includes booze and Dexter (great combo, btw!) and the little kid phase. And the best part of it is that you're now in the proper state of mind to enjoy both fully. Good for you!!
I loved your comment. It really make me smile. And almost wish my kids weren't both at school right now. Almost. ;)

Hi Maria -
Thanks so much for the blog love. :)
Be grateful Aiden hasn't discovered this kiddie addiction just yet. He's about the right age for it. But maybe it's more of a girl thing. Little boys have better things to do than fixate over stuffed animals ... like go crush bugs in the backyard.
Thinking of a new puppy makes me smile. :) Perhaps you could try giving Aiden sad puppy dog eyes and milk a pity snuggle out of him. LOL

Damn it, you've just put a new "must have" item on my shopping list -- a dinosaur cup cake pan! I'm sure that's a huge hit. I know my little man would love that too. Have you used it yet?
I just picked up Star Wards pancake molds from Williams Sonoma last week, but have yet to put them to the test. Amazing how much kids love having their food presented in fun shapes.

Hi Maria -
I heard there was a new community manager. Congrats on your exciting new position!
Thanks for the love on this blog. It's probably about time for another one. And if your six year old is anything at all like my five year old, I think we probably know what he's been up to in the pool. ;)

Apparently my son did view peeing in the pool as a private event. I had no idea! Oh wait ... maybe I should have. It was private to me when I used to pee in the pool as a kid. But I do think sharing the other side of it can help kids see the error of their ways. At least that seems to have helped with my son.
Good luck with your son's swimming lessons! Be sure to tell him not to swallow the water. ;)
