Why foil?  Is it the best material available?  Is this a one use product, and is the foil packet replaceable?

There are a number of plant based gums and thickeners that may work depending on the application and how long it needs to last and how hard you need it.   Also, if you want it activateable with water or just exposure to air.

In a recent Boy Scout magazine article on emergency survival tips, they recomended using white cotton underwear to start a fire when in a pinch.  They authors tested several well known fire starting survival techniques and the white cotton underwear won hands down.

May not be something that you want to do at the family campfire, but in an emergency, at least you'll know those tidy whities can come in handy!

Sounds like the ideal litter for you is one that the cat can ingest (may even be good for them... grasses, oats, etc), is denser (less scattering) and hopefully also absorbs as well as clay. Does this litter exist?

All of the above - Will pet lovers pay extra for "natural" pet foods, shampoos, litter, etc?
