    Summary:

Affordable Real Estate in California? - You may not believe it now, but in May 1913, when The Clorox Company was known as the Electro-Alkaline Company, we bought our first bleach plant at 809 High Street in Oakland, California, for only $3,000!

Is it even possible to get anything of value for $3000 these days, let alone a commercial property? Wow!

Wonder what the property is worth now?

One thing I remember back when I started working for Clorox (1984) were the general business hours at the GO, which were 8 a.m. to 4:35 p.m.  Why 4:35 p.m. I asked?  Apparently the train would roll down the tracks in front of the plant at 4:30 p.m. so you if you worked at the plant, you could not leave until the train passed so they adjusted the hours of operations to 4:35 p.m..  That tradition carried on to the GO for quite some time.

This location was also the first General Offices when the "new" Clorox Company was organized after the divestiture in 1969
