Yesterday I heard a story on NPR about how the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) did an experiment with balloons around the US to see how quickly teams to find them. I thought this forum would be interested in reading about this.

Bella - no surprise it was won by a group like MIT, but isn't it interesting to see an elite defense department unit use social media and crowdsourcing as an experiment for future tactics. You could envision similar methods used for homeland security and anti-terrorism. Sort of a national neighborhood watch program. Pretty amazing.
