, tagged favorite, under considerationI notice when I go to the grocery store, many steaks have a label such as "PURE ANGUS BEEF" "NOLEN RYAN BEEF" - which Nolen Ryan is the owner of the Dallas Cowboys. Okay, so it is a selling point for people shopping in the store to purchase a steak or meat that has a special label on it letting them know it is a product that is backed by a company they trust.
Well, if Kingsford struck some deal were you guys put your label on steaks sold at Wal-Mart, Kroger, Albertsons or Tom Thumb (Safeway) for example you would be really making a smart move. Why? Because everytime someone picked up on of your steaks and saw the Kingsford Label they would automatically think about barbacuing and purchasing other Kingsford products like charcoal to have a BBQ with. Otherwise they might cook the steak on a skillet and not have the charcoaling idea in mind.
I think this is an excellent idea and it is worth a $1,000 prize, which if I won this prize, I would celeberate with my family by purchasing Kingsford charcoal and having a steak party as well as catch up on a few important bills I have. Thank you for letting me share my idea, hope to see your steaks in the stores.

It is a very creative idea! We like your idea so much that we marked it as our favorite of the week (see the front page at www.cloroxconnects.com to see it highlighted). Question: What kind of grade and steak cut do you imagine Kingsford label have? Thank you for your feedback.

Thank you Cathy for liking my idea! I am really flattered!
There are two categories of steaks I can imagine the Kingsford label having. One would be a 2"X3" label on aged Ribeye, Tenderloin, New York Strip, Porterhouse and T-Bone steaks. The second category would be Kingsford Brand Label beef patties in a package; these can be either pre-cooked or not and sold in the frozen section. To use for an example to illistrate my point I did some Google searches on Nolen Ryan's beef patties and he had some already packaged: http://www.nolanryanbeef.com/productList.aspx?c=26 . Of course that is just one example, there are other brands out there too, but I do not know of the Kingsford Brand being on beef, and really that is were it should really be because barbacquing and beef go hand in hand. I mean, what a better way to market your brand than selling both the meat and the charcoal? I see on your website you already sell the cookers.
I am posting a couple links to other companies who have done similar to give you some ideas, but truely I expect Kingsford brand to have much better results since your name pretty much stands for the best quality barbacue in stores already.
Check out examples:

I hope you guys really look into this; I think it would be pretty simple to find a co-packer who would help you design your own label for this. I used to work in the food industry and did some exports for Blue Bell Ice Cream and worked doing exports for Sara Lee for a time. This is just to say that I understand the food industry, and I think this would be a great idea for your company to put out in your next meeting. Good luck! I am rooting for ya!

You are welcome. I am glad I was able to share my idea and explain it well. I feel like you will have the support of many in your company including your stock holders moving forward on this product concept suggested here. I don't own stock myself, but if you move forward on this I better start buying up!

Hi Cathy,
Your last email you sent got me to brainstorm some ideas again. Okay, we have established that Kingsford could put out it's own label of Beef Patties ready to grill. Examples of patties like this I will list again below. Use your imagination and pretend the box says KINGSFORD:
1) http://www.walmart.com/ip/Great-Value-100-Pure-Beef-Patties-128-oz/10804578 (Great Value Beef Patties in Box)
2) http://www.walmart.com/ip/Bubba-Burger-Original-Uncooked-6-Ct-Burgers-32-oz/10533064 (6ct Bubbas Burger's Patties)
Additionally, we talked about putting the Kingsford label onto select types of beef steaks. The steaks would be just like those sold at major stores, but they would have a KINGSFORD LABLE stuck on top of it to get people thinking about barbaqueing. Examples of steaks like these I list below again. Once again, use your imagination and see the KINGSFORD label on the packaging in your mind:
1) http://www.freshmeatselector.com/ProductDetail.aspx?ID=PREMIUM_STEAKS (Kroger)
2) http://stockmananddakota.com/ (Albertsons Food Stores)
3) http://www.pr.com/press-release/382629 (KROGER - NOLEN RYAN STEAKS - read article)

So, why I am posting the same idea over again? Repition helps maybe, new links, maybe will help promote my idea. But I also wanted to post again because I had one more idea. Maybe it isn't as good as the first two, but it kind of goes along with the them. Okay, so now imagine you got the KINGSFORD label on hamburger patties and select cuts of steak and that KINGSFORD's profits are up in both this new market and also in charcoal sales - as people decide they want to buy the charcoal along with the steaks. GREAT! So you are Mr. and Mrs. Shopper who have just purchased some KINGSFORD BEEF, KINGSFORD CHARCOAL, and what will you buy next? How about KINGSFORD BRAND HAMBURGER/ HOTDOG BUNS?
lol! Yeah, well it is a good idea if you think about it. You cover all the basis. It would need to be a special kind of bread for special kind of brand. Maybe Sourdough buns? Yum!! Okay, so visuals help, right? So of course I am going to give examples where again you have to imagine the KINGSFORD BRAND Labeling on the packages of the items below:
1) http://www.walmart.com/ip/Pepperidge-Farm-Classic-Soft-100-Whole-Wheat-Hamburger-Buns-12.25-oz/10452852 (PEPPERRIDGE FARM)
2) http://www.walmart.com/ip/Bimbo-Hamburger-Buns-With-Sesame-Seeds-18.25-oz-8-ct/17757429 (Bimbo w/ Seaseme seeds)
3) http://www.walmart.com/ip/Village-Hearth-Old-Fashioned-Sesame-Hamburger-Buns-15-oz/13424761 (Villiage Hearth)
------------------(now for hotdog buns)-----------------
1) http://www.walmart.com/ip/Sara-Lee-Hearty-Delicious-Golden-Potato-Hot-Dog-Buns-15-oz/15544029 (SARE LEE BAKERY)
2) http://www.walmart.com/ip/Cobblestone-Mill-Potato-Hot-Dog-Buns-15-oz/10448179 (Cobblestone)
3) http://www.walmart.com/ip/Oroweat-Premium-100-Whole-Wheat-Hot-Dog-Buns-14-oz/10448223 (Orowheat)
4) http://www.walmart.com/ip/Wonder-Classic-Sliced-8-Ct-Hot-Dog-Buns-12-oz/10292211 (WONDER)
Alright, so if I had powerpoint I would make a presentation for you guys with my idea of the label already on the steaks, patties and buns. Since I don't have powerpoint, please use your imaginations. It's an idea, right? If it makes money, it makes sense.
Thank you so much for staying interested, this is fun!!!
Kind regards,
Charles Underwood
