I ran across an article about Ponoko, a company from New Zealand that allows anyone to design and build products for themselves or to potentially sell. It's an interesting concept and an easy way for an individual to get a product made. Can we learn something from this model?

I believe the more you open your doors to others (including consumers) outside of Clorox, you'll be more successful with product innovation.
I've had many consumer product ideas that have come to fruition long after I thought of them, i.e. 3M just introduced paper towels for consumer bathrooms. I thought of this idea many years ago, I just had a different configuration in mind. And the soap/fabric softner sheet introduced by Purex, I also had that idea many years ago.
Most of all, it is important that Clorox survey suggestions from outside the company. Usually, the consumer has come across a problem they would like solved and therefore make a suggestion. If they're having the problem, how many other consumers are thinking the same thing.....even though Clorox may not particularly agree with the success of that idea, it should be consumer tested.
Great idea.
